Patparganj is a residential locality situated in the East Delhi District of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, India. It has always been the Delhi Legislative Assembly constituency from 1993 to 2008. 

Pre-Independence

In the earlys of 18th century, Patparganj was the grain market of Delhi. It was a flourishing market where wholesale dealers and merchants used to do business. The 175 acres of land was solely dedicated to the apartments and complexes for building up societies. It is also known as Patparganj Industrial sector for it’s huge growth and development in setting up new production units. This place mainly has colonies for the IFS (Indian Foreign Service) and IAS (Indian Administrative Service) retired officers.

With passing years, Madhu Vihar has developed into the main busiest market place of Patparganj. Balco Market is another very popular market which has ATMs, banks, stationary shops, clothes showrooms and etc. This market was named after a neighbouring apartment of the same place. It has some renowned public and private schools and colleges giving the best education to children from ages. This area is quite well placed for transportation routes like buses, rickshaws and cabs. The metro station is getting built which will add a boost to the connectivity of this particular area.

The last census report bring it to us that Patparganj Delhi had a population of 34,409 of which males were 55% and females were 45%. This place had a high literacy rate of above 70% which is much more than the national average literacy rate.
