With summer on the way this also brings out the spiders that have been quietly breeding away in your home and gardens. Most of the time these spiders are not a nuisance to people as they live outside helping catch other nasty pests in your garden. However if there is a serious infestation and they are entering your home it may be time for a pest control treatment from a professional business.

Inspection. The first step would be to inspect the home and seal off any gaps or holes where the spiders may be gaining entry from. Use door stoppers or rolled up towels to block any gaps under doors. Trim back branches that are against the home's roof or building as spiders often gain access to the home by climbing down these branches. Keep your lawns neat and tidy, bushes well pruned and yard clear of debris. This will reduce shelter for both spiders and the insects they eat and help them to stop breeding.

Dusting. A good quality residual dust should be applied to your roof void space by way of an electric blower. This dust will spread among your empty roof space and any spider that walk along this dust will pick up a trace of it and will kill them off. It is important to have your roof void dusted with a quality dust as spiders often gain access into your roof void then work their way into your home through light fittings.

Surface spray treatment. A licensed pest controller has access to chemicals which are not available to the general public. These chemicals are highly effective and provide long-lasting treatments against these spiders. They are safe, non-staining and leave no nasty odours. They are of much better quality than sprays bought from your local stores. A surface spray treatment should be applied to all your internal skirting boards and a spray to the outside of your house. Once a spider walks along the spray treated area they will die.
