Silverfish are wingless and have a flattened slender body. These pests are often found in many homes in places such as bathrooms, ceilings and among books and stored papers in your cupboards.

They are fast running nocturnal insects that don't like the light and such they seek refuge in dark undisturbed places such as roof voids and cupboards.

To help eliminate silverfish in your home an inspection prior to any treatment is very important. An inspection should involve moving and opening stored paper work and books in unused cupboards to disturb the silverfish and locate their main source.

Also you must inspect incoming goods brought into your home that may house Silverfish and their eggs. Silverfish may be hiding among secondhand books, old papers, files, and furniture. You should inspect these items for any signs of silverfish as this could avoid a serious infestation occurring in your home.

Chemical Treatments.

Where there is a major Silverfish problem in your home it is necessary to control them with a variety of chemical treatments to help achieve an effective level of control.

Surface sprays. A pest controller has access to safe and effective residual sprays that are highly effective at providing long-lasting treatments against these Silverfish. Treatment involves a spray along your homes internal skirting boards, once a silverfish comes in contact with the spray treated area they will die.

Dusts. As silverfish are often living and breeding in your home's roof void, dust formulations are the perfect way to kill and then provide a long-lasting residual pest control treatment against them. Dusts are perfect to areas which are not suited to wet sprays. Dust can also be applied in cupboards where books, papers and files are stored. This will kill off any silverfish which may have made their home there and may be eating your paperwork.
